*   For speed, international express carriers like DHL, FedEx, or UPS are essential. Sea freight is not an option for rapid prototypes.
*   Provide a complete shipping address and ensure your company's DHL/FedEx account details are ready if you are paying for shipping. Alternatively, you can request DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) incoterms, where the supplier handles all shipping and customs formalities.


Phase 3: Guaranteeing Packaging Quality

Poor packaging can ruin a perfect prototype. Ensure it arrives safely:

1. Specify Packaging Requirements in Your PO:
*   Don't assume they will pack it correctly. Clearly state your requirements in the Purchase Order.
*   Example Wording for your PO: "Prototypes must be individually wrapped in bubble wrap or foam. The inner box must be secured within a larger, double-walled cardboard shipping box with sufficient packing peanuts or air cushions to prevent movement during transit. Parts must be protected from moisture and electrostatic discharge if applicable."

2. Request Pre-Shipment Photos:
*   Always ask the supplier to send you photos of the packaged prototypes before they are handed over to the courier. This allows you to verify the packaging quality and give final approval for shipment.

3. Discuss Fragile Parts:
*   If your prototype has delicate features, highlight them. The supplier can then create custom foam inserts or use other protective measures to secure the parts inside the box.
